Enrollment Ceremony Held for April 2026 Term Students

Today, under clear and refreshing weather, we held the enrollment ceremony for the April 2026 term students. Chairman Ryotaro Hibino and Principal 坂本正 also attended and offered warm words of encouragement to the new students. In addition, Principal 坂本 generously donated his new publication — Communication Training Course for University Students — to ASAHI文化学院, following his previous works Applied Test: Listening — 500 Solvable Questions and Applied Test: Reading — 500 Solvable Questions. We wholeheartedly cheer on each of you who have taken this new first step!

New School Year Begins! Business Manner Training Held

April 1st — the new school year has begun! At ASAHI文化学院, we invited Mr. Tani, an expert in business etiquette, to deliver a lecture titled "Let's Think About Manners" for our young faculty and staff members. The lecture was very easy to understand and could be enjoyed while learning — the time flew by. It was an extremely valuable learning opportunity for the participating staff members. It may not be easy to absorb everything right away, but going forward, we hope each person will remain mindful and continue working on it, leading to an even better school environment. We look forward to the continued growth of ASAHI文化学院!

Spring Break — Instructors Upskilling!

In the morning, ASAHI文化学院's new Principal, Mr. 坂本正, gave a lecture on "Let's Use Generative AI in Japanese Language Education!" The content was filled with concrete examples and demonstrations, and will be of great use in future lesson preparation. In the afternoon, Professor Eiji Isono, Dean of the Faculty of International Studies at Nagoya University of Commerce and Business, delivered a lecture at our request entitled "Hints for Transitioning from Grammar Pattern Accumulation-Based Lessons to Action-Oriented Lessons." His talk was grounded in specific personal experiences, which greatly deepened our understanding.

Also, during the lunch break, Bonjinsha hosted a book exhibition, which became a valuable opportunity for instructors to exchange opinions and share information with one another. It was a very fulfilling day. We look forward to the next training session!

Celebrating Graduation and Perfect Attendance Awards

We Are Accepting University Student Interns

Starting from February 2nd, ASAHI文化学院 has begun accepting international student interns from Nihon Fukushi University, Chubu University, and Nagoya University of Economics, who are originally from Sri Lanka, China, and Vietnam. On the first day, in addition to orientation sessions and other classroom activities, the interns actually experienced our student reception and send-off duties. On this, the second day, they seemed to have relaxed a bit, and we could see them working alongside school staff — enjoying themselves while taking charge of preparing for the Setsubun event for current students and handling photography duties. Although it is only a short internship period lasting until February 6th, we hope that through their training at the school, they will gain some learning that will be useful for their future job hunting and careers.

Setsubun Experience Together with Intern Students

"Demons out, good luck in!" This year's Setsubun was celebrated by throwing beans together with the university intern students. Everyone drove out the demons and welcomed in good fortune while sharing smiles and enjoying a wonderful time. Through this traditional Japanese celebration, students and staff deepened their connections, and it was a lively and joyful Setsubun. We hope this year will be a fruitful one in which each person can positively take on a variety of challenges.

The First Class of the Year Was a New Year Experience!

Today was the first class of the year. Students tried their hand at New Year's calligraphy (kakizome), learned how to visit a shrine for the New Year and how to write ema (votive tablets), and also experienced traditional New Year's games. It looked like everyone had a wonderful time. And since lessons begin in earnest from tomorrow — let's all do our best!!

Gift Cards Presented to All Students as Living Support

Today, we held the autumn enrollment ceremony and warmly welcomed all new students. On this special occasion marking a new beginning, we presented each student with a gift card as a warm token of celebration and care from the school. This is a tangible expression of our wish to support everyone's new life in even a small way. We hope that each of you, standing at this new starting line, will value your time, study earnestly, maintain a healthy balance of mind and body, grow, and spend these irreplaceable years of your youth without regret.

The event was also covered by the Chunichi Shimbun, and the ceremony was reported in the news. ASAHI文化学院, in response to recent rising food prices, presented 80 new students with gift cards worth 6,000 yen each to support students who are anxious about their daily living expenses. The students, who have come from Vietnam, Nepal, China, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, and other countries to study Japanese language and culture, were given gift cards that can be used at supermarkets and other stores — taking into account religious dietary restrictions — so that any student can use them. The school plans to provide the same support to the 220 currently enrolled students at a later date.

At the ceremony, new students received the gift cards directly from Chairman Ryotaro Hibino. School Administrator Takao Kinoshita expressed his hope that "the cards will support students' daily lives and give them the strength to study hard." Zhang Rongzhe (18), originally from China, had just started living in the student dormitory, and said with a smile, "I want to use it to buy Japanese ingredients and Chinese ingredients."

We Held a Study Session for the Registered Japanese Language Teacher Examination.

We held a study session in preparation for the Registered Japanese Language Teacher Examination, which is beginning this year.

We invited two instructors from Human Academy and had them share difficult points, the latest information, and even valuable behind-the-scenes insights.

From new teachers to veteran teachers, everyone likely has different worries and concerns, but I believe our school's study session helped to ease those anxieties.

Students Wrote Their Wishes on Tanzaku Strips

Tanabata is coming soon.

At ASAHI文化学院, we prepared a bamboo branch and had students write their wishes and hang them as decorations.

For Tanabata, everyone wrote all kinds of wishes.

Given the time of year, a very large number of students were wishing to pass the JLPT,

but tanzaku strips decorated with all sorts of wonderful wishes — world peace, family health, and success in their academic goals — were hung up as well.

Some unique wishes included:

"May I get permanent residency," "Fall down seven times, get up eight," and "I will become good at drawing"

— ranging from heartfelt wishes, to mottos in life, to personal declarations.

After decorating, everyone had a group photo session.

Watching students enjoying themselves so innocently, I find myself thinking:

"May all of your wishes come true."

We Had Fun Wearing Yukata

Today, we held a Japanese cultural experience.

Although it's only May, the weather has been getting as hot as summer lately.

In such conditions, ASAHI文化学院 held a yukata experience for international students.

Before noon, the temperature had exceeded 30 degrees Celsius and it was very hot and humid, but

the yukata created a cool atmosphere, and somehow the heat seemed to ease just a little.

Students enjoyed taking photos with their friends and creating wonderful memories.

Also,

in the afternoon, we invited a traditional Japanese dance instructor and were taught Japanese dance.

The students found it difficult at first and their movements and expressions were a bit stiff,

but as they got used to it, smiles and laughter gradually began to emerge, and by the end the event was a huge success.

I believe the cross-cultural experience was extremely enjoyable for the international students.

However, as the weather gets hotter, that also means the JLPT date is approaching,

so let's make sure to cherish our daily studies.

March 2023 Graduation Ceremony

In the bountiful spring, with a bright March wind. In this season of farewells and new beginnings, the fledgling students (international students) who enrolled during the pandemic — wrestling with hardship day after day — have worked tirelessly alongside their teachers without giving up. Today, those young birds have taken flight with energy, each heading toward their next goal.

Heartfelt congratulations on your graduation! You truly worked so hard through three years in the midst of the pandemic. Please continue to believe in yourselves and keep pressing forward. The teachers at ASAHI文化学院 are always cheering you on.

We Received the JASSO Economic Support Program for Rising Prices

We have received the JASSO economic support program for rising prices. This is the third round of support from JASSO since COVID-19. ASAHI文化学院 used the support funds to distribute gift cards to current students.

We received grateful comments from students who received support. "Thank you for your support over the past three years. I have received JASSO support on multiple occasions. During difficult times, the support funds, food items, and gift cards helped me through hard periods. I hope you will continue to provide support in the future."

"Thanks to your support, I was able to study hard for university even during the pandemic, and I believe my rich student life was thanks to JASSO. I am truly grateful."

Autumn Field Trip — We Went to Gujo Hachiman

We went on a bus field trip. In Gujo Hachiman, we experienced making plastic food samples. It was our first time, but we received great instruction and managed to make shrimp tempura and lettuce that looked just like the real thing. Everyone was very satisfied with their own creations.

Gujo Hachiman is a town nestled in the mountains with a river flowing through it, and the students who usually live in Nagoya seemed very happy to relax surrounded by nature.

At Bokka no Sato, we had fun seeing horses and alpacas, eating soft serve ice cream, and taking photos.

Everyone's carefree smiles are wonderful!

Yukata Program 2022

According to my opinion, studying a foreign language is just not about the language.But also about that culture.As an example, learning Japanese is not just about learning the grammar points and alphabet but also learning about the Japanese culture.

Just studying a language without experiencing the culture,doesn’t complete your knowledge about that language. Because of that reason ASAHI Cultural Academy organizing a Yukata program every year to give an opportunity to the foreign students to experience the Japanese culture. The annual Yukata program was held in 13th October.

Yukata is a simple kimono which can wear easily.And we were dressed by professional yukata dressers. I think it was the first yukata experience for most of the students in our language school.And every students were happy and excited. Not only that today we got a chance to play Japanese game named ‘Kamizumo’, which is called as paper wrestling.It was so fun and also we played other games too. These kind of experiences comforting the busy lives of foreign students.^^

Sports Meet 2022

The annual sports meet of ASAHI Cultural Academy was held in 29th September 2022.
Sports meet in Japan is kind of different than my country.Because normally in my country we are playing games such as volleyball,badminton,etc.But in Japan they are doing some fun and interesting games such as spoon relay,scavenger hunt,tug of war,three-legged race,etc.

It was our first experience of sports meet in Japan.We were happy and excited about it.And we go time to practice those games before the sports meet with our teachers.And they taught us well how to do those games because we haven’t done some of them before.
The sports meet was held in Tsuyuhashi Sports Center. Before starting the sports meet all the students and teachers did Japanese historical Radio Taiso workout.

And there were six teams of students as Red team,Blue team,Purple team,Green team,Orange team and Yellow team.All the students were doing their best to make their team to win the 1st prize.And all of them had such a great team work. Though we are from different countries it doesn’t matter, through this sports meet we got a good chance to improve our Japanese and also to strengthen our friendship.

We had a long fun day. We collected so many good memories. And it’s a pleasure to attend to a sports meet in Japan as a new experience.And as always I’m really thankful to our language school ASAHI Cultural Academy for giving us these kind of unforgettable memories.
